Community Commitment

2010-2011 Board of Directors: The Foundation’s Board of Directors are elected or appointed to participate and serve voluntarily for a term of one year. All members contribute their time and expertise as well as monetary and in-kind donations to the Foundation.

Carol O’Brien, Executive Director: 
A Clear Creek teacher for 22 years at King-Murphy Elementary School, she is currently retired. In addition to her efforts for the Foundation, she volunteers as a tutor at a Volunteers of America shelter for battered women, and she is an active substitute teacher. She has two daughters, and two nephews who attended CCSD from 1977 through 1999. Carol has served on numerous school committees and was a successful grant writer. Through her efforts, King-Murphy received materials and programs from Amoco Science and ESEA Chapter 2. Those materials added rigor to math and science programs at the school.

Jim Leonard, Vice President for Business Support and Participation:
Jim is a champion for national economic competitiveness. He has spent the past thirteen years inspiring and motivating Colorado companies to strive for best-in-class performance through energetic enterprise and innovation. Currently he is a part-time project manager for the DaVinci Institute’s Museum of Future Inventions project. Jim has been an adjunct instructor at the University of Colorado at Denver Mechanical Engineering Department, a program director at the Colorado Advanced Technology Institute (CATI) and the Colorado Community College System, a department manager at the Adolph Coors Company, and a project engineer for the Ford Motor Company. Jim has an MSE in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA in Marketing and Finance from the University of Detroit. He is a registered PE in Colorado.

Marion Jennings , Secretary\ Vice President for Grants and Endowments:
Marion has lived in Clear Creek County for 31 years and has taught in the Clear Creek School District from 1977 until 2007.  She is now working with the new SmartBoards, helping with the implementation of the International Baccalaureate program and managing assessment for the school district.

Shari Bjorkquist-Rich , Treasurer: Parent of a Clear Creek High School graduate and 2 elementary students. Shari has worked in the legal industry for over 30 years. She is the Practice Support Services Manager for Holme, Roberts & Owen, LLP.
